Seattle to Spokane: Getting to know our neighbours day 2

After an excellent (if too brief visit) with my friend and her family, a morning at CostCo (!) and a bowl of some of the best Pho ever - I hit the road in the pouring rain for Spokane, Washington.

The day in numbers:

284: miles (not sure km - I am immersing myself in American measures)

5: hours driving (and 4/5 in pouring rain!)

1: number of times I wrote a not nice tweet about the disastrous check in process at the hotel (wandering young people with iPads)

10 billion: gallons (40 billion litres for Canadians) of water that fell from the sky or was sprayed on my car from rigs and slow moving vehicles.

2: young deer :)

Observations:

  • Many Washingtonians have not got the memo on keep right except to pass
  • Men who wear cowboy hats ALWAYS hold doors for women
  • Washington  State is beautiful
  • I really like this two lane highway on Interstate motorways (Canada needs to learn some lessons there - build for the future)
Now for the photos - a few less than normal given the yucky weather!

Wild horses monument

The route in miles!

Seattle behind rain (fitting I guess!)

Horrible photo - but they label the crops on the fences and I love that!

Columbia River gorge - stunning!

Another view of the Gorge

RAIN and mountains and spray from cars

SUPER busy gas station!

Combo River gorge - just wow

This should be first in the Gorge photos... just so beautiful!
Reminds me of a flater Kamloops

Two lanes :)

These freaked me out a bit - they look like monsters from a book I read as a teenager... or at least how I pictured the monsters...
